In reply to Crystal. You do not need a separate letter for each ESA, a recommendation for both can be included in one letter. The LMHP should state in the letter how each provides support in a different way.

I am attempting to move to another apartment complex. Previously, I have used one letter that includes both cats as ESA’s for my anxiety. The new landlord is stating that they require a letter for each cat that lists different ‘purposes’ as she said. Can they ask this? I’ve never had a landlord require that I have two disabilities to justify my two ESA’s.

In reply to Holly k. No, that is not reasonable. Under the latest HUD guidelines, landlords are no longer allowed to require healthcare providers to complete specific forms if the tenant has submitted a valid ESA letter.

Can a landlord denied a ESA because the doctor did not reply to the ESA verification form within five business days? But tenants did provide an official letter from the doctor.

In reply to Liz. Unfortunately emotional support birds do not have public access rights. While they certainly provide invaluable support, birds are also not allowed to be service animals under the ADA.

Under HUD standards and rules and regulations after giving the esa paper work do I still have to spayed and neutered my animal to not be evicted?

My husband took his cockatiel into a coffee shop to order a coffee today and they said it was not allowed and we had to take him outside. The bird doesn’t fly sits on his shoulder for the last 8years and does wonders for his PTSD
